What’s Going on with the Shenandoah Rail Trail?
Negotiations are underway with Norfolk Southern and state funds are set aside for the purchase of the unused rail corridor between Broadway and Front Royal to turn it into a multi-use trail where people can walk, jog, ride bikes and more. AND, it was just announced that another $3 million was set aside in the Federal budget for preliminary engineering.
Now it’s time to talk about how we build the best trail for our region.
Please join us at one of the meetings near you. In this gathering, we’ll review the history and status of the project, why a trail is the best option for this corridor to once again serve the communities along its route, and the possibilities a trail brings. Oh, the possibilities!!
At the meetings, there will be opportunity for your input so this trail is designed first and foremost with YOU, a local community member, in mind. We’ll look at maps, photos and examples from other trails, and representatives from the towns and Shenandoah Rail Trail will be available to address questions and provide local context.
