With a voice sometimes silken and sometimes sassy, Kirsten “Haze” Hazler sings stories of good intentions, messy entanglements, and ditched resolutions… of guilt and forgiveness… of sweet-talking boys and tortured, troubled men… of beautiful broken women and the girls they used to be.

Based in Richmond, Virginia, Haze performs most frequently as half of the indie-folk duo Haze & Dacey, and occasionally solo, with a trio, or with a full band, The Haze & Dacey Collective. Her biggest influences are no-frills, badass women songwriters like The Indigo Girls, Kathleen Edwards, Patty Griffin, and K.T. Tunstall. Fans have compared her voice to Natalie Merchant, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Joni Mitchell, and Joan Baez.

Haze’s most recent body of work is a collection of songs based on The Handmaids Tale, both the original novel by Margaret Atwood and the Hulu television series of the same name. The resulting album, titled Letters from Gilead, was released November 12, 2021.
