Tour Divide Comes to the Shenandoah Valley – December Social
December 5, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Continuing our monthly socials, we are excited to invite you to hear directly about long-distance trails from two Valley locals who recently completed the Tour Divide from Canada to Mexico. Tour Divide – a 2,745-mile race the length of Great Divide Mountain Bike Route, from Banff, Canada, to the US/Mexico border.
What: December Monthly Social with special guests Abe Kaufman and David Landis, who will take us on a journey of the 2022 Tour Divide in addition to more local options like the Trans Virginia Route.
Where: Brothers Craft Brewing, food can be brought to the brewery or ordered for delivery.
When: Monday, December 5, 2022
Why: The Tour Divide is a world-renowned event on a unique route along the Continental. The Great Divide Route is the world’s longest off-pavement cycling route. 2022 saw two Shenandoah Valley (Harrisonburg) locals participate in the event. In addition, David Landis is the co-owner of Village to Village Press and V2V Trails (creator of the Trans Virginia Trail), and Abe Kaufman works as JMU’s Energy Conservation and Sustainability Manager. We’ll explore more than the Continental Divide Race. We’ll get at trails as economic engines at the local level, the cycling community in the Valley, and why long-distance trails matter.
