Bedlam Brewing is a small scale brew pub located a few miles north of Staunton’s downtown area. The newest small batch brewery to join the Beerwerks Trail, it focuses on crafting traditional ales with a Belgian and French influence, as well as other traditional and seasonal varieties that embrace the rich farming heritage of the Shenandoah Valley. Bedlam will offer six to seven of its own craft beers on tap at any given time.
The menu at Bedlam Brewing is anchored by hand-crafted artisanal pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven, plus house-cooked roast beef, bratwurst, and pork. The pub puts a spotlight on local farm-grown produce supplemented by locally raised livestock to showcase the excellence and variety of ingredients that the Shenandoah Valley offers.
Fun fact: The founder and head brewer of Bedlam recently retired as a high school history teacher to pursue his longtime passion for brewing craft beer. As for why he chose the name Bedlam for his new brewery, he says there’s not much difference between “the drinking crowd and teenager crowd — both jobs require a level of insanity.”
